Madrid's Museums - Today is "El Dia de los Museos"

Here is a list of Madrid's museums for the art-interessted people and what better day to post this than today when its museum day! Todays it's free!


Museo del Prado - Paseo del Prado (Villanueva Building) One of the most important museums in Europe, a lot of paintings and sculptures... Has a lot of spanish painters from the romantics to 19th century, Velazquez and Goya for example, but they have also some flemish, french, italian, german and english artist. Rubens, Bosch... The entrance is free from tuesdays to saturdays from 18:00 - 20:00 and sundays from 17:00 - 20:00, otherwise its 6 euros. 
Reina Sofia - Calle Santa Isabel 52, Contemporary and modern art, Abstract, Pop, and Minimal Art movements. Picasso's famous Guernica, Miro, Dali, Bacon. Free entrance on saturdays from 14:30 - 21:00 and sundays from 10:00 - 14:30, other days 6 euros. Always free entrance for children under 18 years old, teachers and pensioners. 
Thyssen - Paseo del Prado 8, Thyssen Museum has a lot of important private art collections. Western Art, Pop Art, Italian painters... Paintings from 17th century to 20th century, Van Eyck, Van Gogh, Cezanne, some Picasso, Miro, Dali, Pollock... Entrance 6 euros and reduced for senior citizens and students.
Museo Academia Bellas Artes - Calle Alcala 13, Picasso and Dali where students at this academy, now you can find Van Dyck, Rubens, Raphael, Titian... El Greco, Velazquez, Ribera, Murillo, Zurbaran... And a room full of Goya. Entrance 3 euros, discounts to students, pensioners and kids under 18.
Museo Arqueológico Nacional - Calle Serrano 13, the museum is also the National Library of Spain, with million books and newspapers, photographs, and Spain's most important collections of drawings and engraving, maps... The museums has a lot of sculptures, treaseurs, discovered and important exhibits...

Museo de America - Avenida Reyes Catolicos 6, collection of over 25,000 artefacts, mostly from South and Central America, but also from the northern part of the continent. Entrance 3 euros.
